Layer: Industrial Outfalls (ID: 0)

Name: Industrial Outfalls

Display Field: FacilityName

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPoint

Description: This layer contains the locations of industrial outfalls in North Carolina. Generally, industrial outfalls are locations where industrial wastewater is discharged into surface waters. The industrial outfalls data that was used to create this GIS feature class is stored in NCDOT’s Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) database, which is hosted by NCDOT’s Information Technology unit. This data was last updated April 2014. To convert the data to a GIS feature class, the following process was used: 1. The CSV file containing the industrial outfalls data was converted to an event theme. 2. The event theme was converted to a file geodatabase feature class. 3. The state plane coordinates for the features were incorporated into the feature class.
